These are favoured in phone interviews because they uncover your motivation and ability, which tells them if you’re worth meeting to find out more.
And then the face to face interview is more “detail focused”, finding out how specifically you go about things.
In phone interviews you will obviously also hear questions which unearth your suitability, as well as a few questions requiring you to give specific examples.

Phone Interview Questions: Wildcard Questions
These are questions that appear to be much more random. However, they will reveal valuable information about your interviewer’s needs.
17. Tell me about the worst boss you’ve had.
You could be asked this if they’ve had problems in the past with insubordinate staff.
18. Are you willing to take risks?
The job might need someone who can weigh things up and take calculated risks.
19. How loyal are you?
They might be having problems with staff loyalty.
20. How do you manage tension?
The role could be pressurised for a number of reasons.

If you’re asked one of these more random, specific questions during your phone interview, make a note of it. Why?
Because your interviewer’s shown their hand, and let you know that this will massively influence their decision.

The bottom line is, you won’t be asked anything different than you would be asked in a face to face interview. So it certainly won’t hurt to prepare for questions the same way you would for a face to face interview.
